why ignorance has innocence 🥊 punchlineday 34

naii.io

we got into a fight

downtown

at midnight

she said "a real man would have said something"

i looked at her and shrugged my shoulders

"but you didnt say a word"

i had no idea what she meant

and i asked her

but she kept stomping

until we were home

where she broke the silence

"he looked at my boobs, asshole"

"wait what" i said

it turned out

while i was talking to him

he scanned her body

and she felt uncomfortable

even harassed

"he is a good man" i said

and i had no idea he was doing that

.
.

who is at fault

him
her
me

its a tricky question

* can you blame a man who looked at a woman?
* can you blame a woman who felt harassed by a look?
* can you blame me for not having noticed it in the moment?

in all 3 positions there is ignorance

ignorance not in the way we often use the word

where we accuse someone of being "ignorant"

but ignorance from latin ignorare (not knowing)

when a person doesnt know any better

* was his look at her malicious?
* was her expressing harassment valid or a way to harm him (putting him in a bad light)?
* and was me not even noticing what was going on an intentional decision?

i cant speak for others

i can only speak for myself

but i trust her word

as much as i trust my perception of the situation

and i will say that me being in a conversation

i focus on my conversation partner

in this case it was him

thats where my attention was

so it is possible i didnt notice his potential misdeed...

.
.

was our behavior intentional?

did we did intend to harm?

all i can say is

my conscience is pure

and i didnt do anything wrong intentionally

thats what matters the most

oh, one last thing before you go...

i looked in the mirror
and couldnt stop
the man behind me
did a moon-walk
i wanted to catch him
grabbed his cojones
by accident to be honest
but he was rather amused
and happy as can be
michael jackson
queen of "aaow!"
rest peaceful indeed

¡Ándale, arriba!
