you dont have to love it
but you can certainly appreciate it
when you transform your brain
from the attention span of a mouse
to the attention span of a marathon runner
because thats what writing down does
call it a diary
call it a blog
call it whatever you want
the point is
you do stuff
you reflect on it
and you share your reflections
some people would even give it fancy names
like "content marketing"
or other kinds of new words that marketers invent
for the SAME EXACT THING
that i did in the 90s
when i was in front a green-monochrome computer screen
having written my first diarrhea entries
and having played qbasic gorillas
where gorillas throw bananas at each other [1]
.
.
but something happened with diaries
around 1999 to 2004
when you think about
the advent of web 2.0 aka "social media"
where everyone had a digital diary
and PUBLISHED it to EVERYONE around the WORLD
that in of itself is not bad
sharing is caring (and daring)
but the problem was that
companies started to create "diary platforms"
what we then called "blogs"
and as innocent as they were in the beginning
(remember twitter back in 2007 when it was still a virgin)
they became massive monetization machines
and they paved the way for what we today call "influencers"
where people claim to share their real life online through video
with hooks like
"here is what i what just found out about"
yadda yadda
"link in bio"
so that we can realize the following truth
that has been true
and will probably be true forever
"marketers ruin everything"
as garyvee famously said
.
.
what changed until today is that
everyone is now be a marketer
if he she it desires so
its democratized marketing
and again
that in and itself is not the problem
its always the how you market
drop-shipping is one example where
aggressive marketing is being applied
as you can see here
(but wait!)
(if youre sensitive pause now)
(do not continue if you have someone in your life that you love)
(okay i warned you...) [2]
happy?
okay heres another one [3]
they took the advice "make em feel somethin in ur ads" too far
and its become traumatizing now
all that because our natural human desire to share aspects of our life
became monetized by corporations
who have no interest in human survival
because corporate survival and elite dominance
is the paradigm they squeeze their wiener to
.
.
how do i change pace now to come to a sober conclusion?
i dunno
but i know that your daily consumption of video "diarrhea" content
is probably too much
says the person who prided himself
to have watched 12 hours of television a day
back in the 90s
from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening
but i have since then healed
and it only took me 20 years to recover
from my teens until my 30s
so do you have 20 years to spare
if not...
i reckon you start documenting your life
and write things down for yourself
so that you can heal
like i did
oh, one last thing before you go...
i struggled to connect with locals in cuba
and i didnt even speak their language
i saw them laughing when they played dominoes
but when i passed by they became dead-silent
so i took a few sips of water to refresh my mind
got a tip from the deepest of my gut
took a bus to guantanamo bay
still didnt speak a word of their mother tongue
but pointed at my ass during the ride
made my face look desperate
and conveyed an urgent request to the driver
now everyone in the bus was laughing their ass off
and i almost shit my pants
(who said dirty tap water has no benefits)
¡Ándale, arriba!
naii "has become an obsessive note-taker because of its obvious gut benefits" io
