I had bad dreams again last night

I kept hearing car engines outside my bedroom window. Like someone was sitting there in their car. Waiting

I woke up in a cold sweat at 3am. Went to the window expecting to see some creepy stalker in my driveway

Nothing there

But here’s the thing...

Sometimes our subconscious tries to tell us stuff through dreams. Even weird ones like mine

My brain was probably processing some anxiety I’ve been having about my business. You know that feeling when you’re waiting for something important to happen?

Like when you’re waiting to hear back from a potential client. Or waiting to see if your new marketing campaign works

That "engine idling" feeling in my chest was probably just nervous energy

Do you ever get dreams like that? Where your brain is working through stuff while you sleep?

I find that writing helps me process that anxious energy. Especially writing in my diary

There’s something therapeutic about putting thoughts into words. Even if they’re weird thoughts about phantom car engines

Anyway, when I stopped looking, headlights circled my bed. Twin beams sliced the darkness, prowling like wolves around a campfire

I jolted awake drenched, bedsheets coiled around my ankles like pythons

An engine seemed to idle outside this time—that bass note that reverberates beneath your sternum

When I yanked back the curtain one more time: nothing but empty pavement

Yet something still thrummed inside my ribcage, mechanical and alive
